Mike Esordi

Michael Esordi is the creative force behind Art of the Parade. He is a visionary artist, cultural producer, and long-time advocate for sustainable parade culture. After more than a decade crafting eco-conscious throws for the Krewe of Krampus, Michael launched Art of the Parade to amplify the creativity of New Orleans’ walking krewes and help shift the culture toward more meaningful, sustainable celebrations.

His connection to New Orleans began with childhood visits to family, where the city’s bold creativity and cultural richness left a lasting impression. That early inspiration eventually brought him back. He returned not only to live in New Orleans, but to take an active role in its creative landscape. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, one of the world’s leading art and design institutions, Michael brings deep experience in creative direction, community engagement, and sustainability innovation.

As founder and captain of the Krewe of Krampus, he has helped shape one of the most visually striking and environmentally conscious walking krewes in the city. He is known for building with both vision and purpose, pushing boundaries through eco-friendly materials and distinctive aesthetics. One of his most notable innovations is the transformation of the traditional Mardi Gras doubloon, reimagined in cast recycled glass. It is a clear example of how even the most iconic elements of parade culture can evolve with care and intention.

Through Art of the Parade, Michael is working to build a creative economy that values quality over quantity and storytelling over excess. His mission is to inspire a new generation of artists and parade-goers who see throws not as waste, but as works of art meant to be kept and cherished.

His creative philosophy is simple:
“Create better.”
