Sustainability in Parades
Parading can evolve.
Parades bring joy, pride, and tradition to the streets of New Orleans. They also leave behind an overwhelming amount of waste. Plastic beads, broken trinkets, torn packaging, and discarded throws pile up year after year. Storm drains clog. Streets fill with debris. The celebration ends, but the cleanup drags on.
At Art of the Parade, we work with Krewes and artists who want to be part of that change. We support the shift toward meaningful materials, creative reuse, and throw strategies that keep beauty in the streets without leaving destruction behind.

In 2023, 1,162 tons of Mardi Gras trash were transported to the landfill in just 11 days. In other words, that’s 2.5 millions pounds of waste.
